Ted Allen Food Network CanadaTed Allen Food Network. Cooking is not a skill that I was naturally gifted, or gives me many opportunities to learn art at home. Our family meals often consisted of TV dinners and morning menu items usually appears simple, well preserved, as cakes or oatmeal. In our house, if you can boil water, run the microwave or in the work force to press the lever toaster, his culinary education was more or less complete.
I have since learned that one can actually learn to cook, do not have to be an innate God-given talent. One evening, relaxing at home with a headache, I turned on the television and was captivated by a cooking show. People in the program actually seemed amused, and when all was said and done, the food she prepares seemed totally edible. The most interesting of the series? They made it look easy. Like Frankenstein on the operating table, my inner chef suddenly shuddered to life.
Not only could learn to cook, but luckily I was able to do so by participating in something you've done well, watching TV. I began to explore intentionally programming schedules for cooking shows. Some of my favorite kitchen have become Mrs. Lucy Cajun RFD-TV, eat well on the Food Network, chopped Ted Allen (who is also the FN), and the cowboy flavor, another original RFD-TV. Thank God for satellite TV dish!
